The majority of the limes found at the supermarket are Persian limes; they are on par with the size of a lemon (except they are round) and have a similar pulp. The key lime, however, is smaller with a thinner exterior skin; foodies swear that key limes are more tart than regular Persian limes. So it is with all of this in mind that we created a hot sauce with key lime juice, Stripling's Margarita Key Lime with Fresh Cilantro Hot Sauce. Both the hot sauce and the addition of even more key lime juice in this recipe (below) give the steak a tangy, citrus-centric flavor.
Key Lime Flank Steak
- 2 (1 1/2 lb.) flank steaks
- 1/3 c. vegetable oil
- 2 1/2 oz. Stripling's Margarita Key Lime with Fresh Cilantro Hot Sauce
- 2 whole key limes
Directions:
Combine oil and hot sauce. Pour mixture over steaks in a shallow pan and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 7 hours. Grill steaks using high heat, having discarded the marinade sauce. Slice meat thinly prior to serving. Garnish with slices of lime, squeezing some on meat for additional flavor. *1(5 ounce) bottle of Stripling's Margarita Key Lime with Fresh Cilantro Hot Sauce will meet the recipe requirement and leave a nice amount remaining for other uses!
