Their store also is filled with homemade jams, jellies and other meal enhancements. It is a friendly place, and people come there to browse and enjoy down-home hospitality. All the employees smile, which makes the customers feel welcome — so they smile back. A friendly atmosphere prevails. “Y’all come back, you heah!” Stripling’s customers always do.

45th Anniversary Celebration
Stripling’s is invited folks to join them Saturday, at Stripling’s General Store on Ga. Highway 300 in Cordele. where they will host “a good ol’ southern barbecue” as part of their 45th anniversary celebration.
It all started in 1964, when James Stripling had one thing on his mind and that was making sausage to share with his family and friends. It didn’t take long for word to spread and Stripling’s Sausage Kitchen was put on the map. That was 45 years ago and not much has changed at least not as far as that famous sausage is concerned.

Stripling's Featured in Local Paper
The tradition is growing stronger each
day, and according to Lisa Hardin, now coowner with her husband, Ricky, “We
hope to continue to grow and be a part of the communities we serve.” She said, “It is our loyal customers who have made us what we are here at our Lake Blackshear store and our store off of Highway 300.”
As for what has made the sausage so
popular and successful, Lisa said, “Well,I can’t tell you the whole secret ... Ricky’s uncle James had the recipe, and we have not changed it in over 45 years.”

Stripling's Featured in Local Magazine
Though there are many individuals in the world — and
especially South Georgia — who proudly claim that they
make their own sausage, for most the activity is a hobby
or a diversion when time permits. For others, such as the
owners of Stripling’s General Store, it’s a profession and
even a calling. That’s likely why Stripling’s, a Cordelearea
based family enterprise, is celebrating its 45th
anniversary this year.
That milestone is of interest for many reasons, not
least of which is that Stripling’s churns out more than
300,000 pounds of sausage per year! Sausage was its
original product and continues to be a signature item. It is
the cornerstone of what is a flourishing business that now
encompasses two retail operations in the Cordele area
and, more recently, a USDA-inspected production facility
in Moultrie.
The success of Stripling’s business can be attributed
to many key factors: A recipe that has not changed since
1964; a committed, entrepreneurial-minded family who
all are willing to roll up their sleeves and jump into
whatever tasks need tackling; and, of course, a supportive
customer base whose addresses span from nearby South
Georgia to mail-order fans scattered throughout the
country, and even to American troops stationed Iraq and
Afghanistan.
